A refrigerator door seal by model number fits the channel. A universal one fits nothing well.

We supply refrigerator door seals, defrost thermostats, crisper bins and shelf parts to people in Austin who are doing the swap themselves. Send the model and serial from the tag inside the fresh-food compartment. We check the retainer type and the profile, then reply with the part and a confirmed number.

Refrigerator door seal

Door seals matched to the model and the retainer

A fridge gasket is a PVC bellows with a flexible magnet strip sealed inside it, and a dart or a flat flange on the back edge. The dart pushes into a channel in the door liner. The flange sits under a metal retainer held by 20 to 30 screws. Those two systems do not swap. We confirm which one your door uses before we order anything, because a push-in seal on a screw-in door just falls off.

The second check is the profile. Fresh-food and freezer doors on the same cabinet often take different seals with different bellows depths. We order the one listed against your model and serial, and if the parts list splits by serial range, we ask for the serial. That is the whole reason we want the tag photo and not the brand.

One thing before you buy. If the old seal tore at the hinge side, look at the door first. A door that sags 3 mm at the handle end will tear the new gasket in the same spot within months. Tighten or shim the hinge, then fit the seal.

Defrost thermostat

Defrost thermostats matched by open and close temperature

Frost building on the evaporator cover, a freezer that is cold and a fridge section that is warm: that is the usual defrost failure. The thermostat clipped to the evaporator tube is a bi-metal switch. It closes when the coil is cold so the heater can run, and opens again once the frost is gone. If it never closes, the heater never fires.

Two thermostats can share a clip and a connector and still be wrong for each other. One opens at 47°F, another at 60°F. Fit the wrong one and the heater cooks the coil, or quits before the ice is off. We match the open and close points to the original listing, not just the plug.

Test before you buy. Pull it, drop it in ice water for five minutes and check continuity across the two leads. Closed when cold means the thermostat is fine and the fault is the heater or the defrost control. We would rather tell you that than sell you a part you do not need.

Compressors, relays and refrigerant stay with a licensed tech

Anything inside the sealed system is off our counter: compressors, start relays sold as compressor kits, filter driers, capillary tubes, refrigerant and line valves. Opening that loop needs EPA certification, recovery equipment and a brazing torch. We do not sell those parts to anyone over the counter.

Bins, shelves, door seals, thermostats, water filters and door hinge bushings are fair game. Doors and full liners are too big to ship, so we leave them out.

What happens after you send the tag

Bins and crisper drawers follow the same steps. A bin is matched by model too, because a 2 mm difference in rail width means it rattles or jams.

Questions people ask at the fridge desk

Can I buy a universal cut-to-fit door seal?

Not from us. Those kits ask you to glue the corners yourself, the magnet is often weaker and the bellows rarely matches the door channel. It costs less up front and leaks warm air in the corners within a season.

Will you sell me a compressor, start relay or refrigerant?

No. That is sealed-system work and it goes to a licensed technician. We are happy to tell you which parts on your model are outside the sealed loop.

The tag is gone. Can you still match a seal?

Sometimes. Bring the old seal and we measure it, or check the back of the crisper drawer and the door liner for a stamped number. With brand only, we cannot match yet, and we will say so.

Do you ship refrigerator door seals?

Yes. A seal folds into a box and ships. Doors, liners and complete shelf frames do not. See the fit guarantee and returns for what happens if the part is wrong.
